If you are a forest-schooler or a family that spends most of their time in nature, you may be looking for the perfect nature-schooling curriculum. What even is nature-schooling curriculum? Should we just sink our feet into the Earth and let it speak to us? Why bother with curriculum at all?
I often joke that I write curriculum of unschoolers. This is an oxymoron, because unschoolers do not use curriculum. I could retort back, do unschoolers read books? Most do. While developing my curriculum, I try to create something that the child is naturally pulled to. You will not find a check list of tasks, a schedule, flash cards, or worksheets. You will find that your child is learning organically, without the need of constant reinforcment, reward charts, or power-struggles. Acorn to Oak’s curriculum is completely child-led.
What is Alphabet Forest?
Alphabet Forest is Acorn to Oak’s early learning program. Your child will learn to read organically through The Rhythmic Reading Method. In Alphabet Forest, the child discovers the living alphabet. Letters are introduced through stories, poetry, morning baskets, letter drawings, characters, nature walks, nature crafts, nature walks and recipes. Letter sounds are reinforced and mastered while engaging in these activities.
The core curriculum includes the following for every letter of the alphabet:
– A Book List
– Songs
– Morning Baskets
– Poetry
– Waldorf Inspired Letter Drawings
– Animal and Plant Studies
– Guided Nature Walks and Nature Journal Prompts
– Finger Plays
– Nature Crafts

– Prompted Drawings
– Phonics Lesson
– Letter Building Exercise
In the Complete Collection, you will also have access to the following for every letter:
– A Recipe
– A Short Story and Reading Comprehension Lesson
