We love making pinecone crafts! I live in Florida, so pine trees are in abundance! My boys love to gather things on their nature walks, which means we usually end up with a basket full of pinecones. I’ve had to get creative on how I use them. We have made all sorts of animals out of pinecones, like our pinecone owls, and pinecone squirrel.

Acorn to Oak’s Tree Study

These pinecone crafts are a great way to teach your child all about trees! In our Tree Unit Study, you will learn all about tree, leaf and seed identification. You will learn the cultural significance of trees, their medicinal properties, and how they are used in traditional crafts such as natural dyeing and basket weaving.

Pinecone Owl

This pinecone craft is always a favorite in my forest school class! I always pair this nature craft with the classic book Owl Babies. This snowy pinecone owl is perfect for any winter nature table.

Pinecone Squirrel

The pinecone squirrel is another rendition of our pinecone animals. This squirrel is make of a little pinecone, a big pinecone, and even pine needles as the tail!

Pinecone Bee

The pinecone bee is super cute, especially because it is covered in beeswax, making it look like a honeybee!
